I recently came across Kindle while shopping for Joel Comm's "Adsense Secrets" and Perry Marshall's "Ultimate Guide to Google Adwords" over at Amazon.com.

My take on it was that owners of this technology could download a book's content onto some sort of hand-held screen (larger than a Blackberry but smaller than a small laptop or DVD player) that appeaered to be the size of a typical book.

I thought this was 'almost revolutionary' with great market foresight; however I somewhat disagree with the concept, Alex. If I wanted to view a computer screen, wouldn't I just go to my computer and download an e-book?

I shop at Amazon because I like to flip pages. I can put it down next to me on the bus and not worry someone with steal it, much like a technological gadget like a DVD player; if I lose it, so what - I would rath.er replace a $20.00 book over a laptop or other audio-visual gadget.

Your comments?

P.S. Is this what you are referring to when you state 'changing content'.

Daniel, I prefer to flip pages as well, but when it comes to searching the text, an electronic medium is hard to beat. And, having found specific text, you can then bookmark it as well.

Since the size of the Kindle is somewhat more the size of a book, I imagine it's much more portable than a laptop in terms of size and weight.

I'm not really familiar with the technology, there are probably other good reasons to have the Kindle, at least as an adjunct to the paper book.

Walter

I like this idea beceuase I read a lot of books for researching health issues etc. Currently there seems to not be a big selection of this type of book available on the Kindle store.

AND to write an article or blog with quotes from another author's work would be much simpler if the Kindle were able to download or email the bookmarks and "margin writings" back to my own computer for insertion in my blog, article, or other writing.

The easier it is to make a proper references, the more likely those who learn from others and repeat other's words will do the right thing and give credit to the source material.

The Kindle weighs a lot less than 2 or 3 books that I might carry around.
